Windows XP taskbar size won't stay

OK, interesting question that I've seen others have but have not seen a fix for yet:
I change my taskbar size (either lock the taskbar or not) to be twice the normal size and if I log off and back on, then it stays and works. But if I restart my computer, it never seems to stick, it goes back to being its normal size. I've tried lots and nothing has worked...interesting part is that if I make a new user and change the taskbar size for it, then it stays.

Anyone know how to make my main user (the one I use) stick? If not, anyone know how to transfer *everything* from one user to another, quickly? :)

Edit the registry.

Before you do this set the taskbar to the size you want it. This will also freeze your explorer windows so if you want the to open Maximized go ahead and open explorer and maximize the windows.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Right Click in the right pane and choose New>DWORD Value. Type NoSaveSettings to name itand press enter. Now double click the "NoSaveSettings" icon and type "1" in the Value Data box and press enter.

Close any windows. Logg off and then log back on. Now your taskbar will retain its size and your explorer windows will open at the size you froze them.

Hey, thanks *tons* for the help...didn't quite work but a slightly modified version: I had the key (already set to 1), so I assume it had the settings i didnt want saved, so i just deleted the key

Viola, it worked, thanks again for pointing me in the right direction! :)

Yeah it already had the settings locked. You may have to create a new key in order to save the settings you want.
