Windows XP system uptime counter disappeared

The disappearance of the system uptime counter on my computer (WinXP Pro) is mighty annoying. When I use the SystemInfo program (systeminfo.exe) to check the uptime, all it gives me is "N/A" and not the numbers I expect. I have no idea when this happened but I know it used to work and now it doesn't. The only thing I can think of is when my Windows installation became corrupted (the only data lost was my profile...DOH!) and I had to reinstall over the existing installation, possibly killing off the counter. In any case, I'm stumped. Is there any way to get that uptime counter back?

Thanks! It works perfectly. The only reason I wanted the uptime counter back was so that Motherboard Monitor can report it properly. Since this uptime program doesn't fix the original issue, MBM still won't be able to report it, but at least I now know the uptime.

is there a trick to getting uptimei.exe to work? I just downloaded it, and when I double-click it to run, a DOS box pops up, then immediately goes away.

any ideas?

thanks.

craptio:

the reason that happens is because uptimei.exe is a console program. it is meant to be run from the command prompt, and you are doing it from your desktop.

if you or anyone else would like a graphical version of an uptime program, download it here at:

uptime2.exe

I hope that helps... enjoy! :)
