I have 2 Computers running Windows XP Pro. I've both enable sharing hard drives on both computers. But when I click on My Network Places and click on the computer I'm trying to get access, it give me this error. "Station2 is not accessible. You do not have permission. etc etc etc."

Anyone is having this problem? I didn't set any passwords. Both computer has administrator level access.

How can I enable access to share from one computer to another?

Please help me as this been puzzled me for a couple of days.

Thank you

Mike

it all depends on many things like what kind of file you are trying to access.

try logging using the Administrator.
have you setup up the computer?

create user accounts on the xp machine matching the user trying to access it. for example you have station1 and station2. you're logged on station2 as "john doe" with no password. u need to create a user on station 1 with a user name of "john doe" and no password. same thing goes for station1.

can I just have admin access only? I don't really like to create users account since each computer is only used by one people.

Did you use the wizard to set up your network? You should. That's what I did and I have had no problems.

have u even tried adding the users?? if your worried about the welcome screen and/or autologon issues....there is a thing called regedit.

As virulent has already said , you have to create a user account and login to that account. I was having the same problem the other day when i added a new machine to my small network. It had been awhile since i had initially set the network so i forgot about the specifics, i spent a half a day changing workgroup names, running the network wizard, setting permissions etc. and then i finally gave up and read the help file on networking in XP. As soon as i added another admin account and logged in i was able to get on the network instead of "access denied you do not have permission</FONT><FONT size=2>"</FONT>
