Hi

I want to modify my boot.ini. Which of these a better and safer option

1) Rebuild using bootcfg /rebuild
2) Get a boot.ini from my friend on a floppy and replace it

Thanks
Pawan

I used the msconfig to turn on the /safeboot option. After I restarted my m/c, it hangs after showing the initial Windows logo (I am not being able to reach the logon screen). So essentially, I just want to remove the /safeboot option from my boot.ini. I have not been able to figure out why it's causing a problem though.

you could try a bootdisk and then edit the boot.ini file to remove the /safeboot option? Can you get into Windows in safemode?

Plug the HD into another PC, look for boot.ini in the boot partition and modify it or else try using safe mode.

If Bart PE has an editor, you might even look into it. Never tried it myself though so not exactly sure.
