I currently am running four computers through a Netgear wireless Router/Hub. Two of the computers are desktops plugged directly into the router. The other two computers are notebooks, running via the wireless router.

All of the compters are able to access the network, and the comptuer actually will recognize the network itself. The problem comes when I wish to share files and printers and the like through each computer. The only way i can get the compters to see each other on the network, is to turn off the firewall on each computer. Once the firewall is back online, that computer loses sight of the other computers.

The main question here is: Is there a way to set the firewall permissions to grant access to the network so that the firewall can be online and each comuter can have access to the shared files on all of the other computers?

Well... M$ did try to beef up their security with SP2 and their firewall is kinda strict. It even blocks ICMP by default. Glad that you got your network networking. Just remember to check the exclusion/inclusion list if some other programs are not working for you.

Yeah well its working to an extent.... It still blocks access sometimes. I get this error. "You might not have permission to use this netwrok resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Network path was not found" When i turn the firewall off tho, that error goes away.

There's an option in the XP SP2 Firewall Control Panel to "Display a notification when Windows Firewall blocks a program".

If you TELL Windows Firewall to block something, I imagine it stops notifying you after that. Anybody know if there's a way to get the Firewall to start over and notify you about everything it's blocking?

Thanks!
