Where did you read that?

Everything I've heard has indicated that it was a few days away.

Apparently this forum has links to screenshots of the Winbetas site along with a link of a file residing on the MS that may be this very one.

Edit: Someone else states it's a build from March

That can't be it. The final 2180 that I'm downloading from the Windows Beta site is 266.01MB in size

NFS4 is correct.

The above link is to RC2, a German version at that!

I can't understand why ppl are soooooooo desperate to get this service pack immediately. If you're a careful user with anti-virus, firewall and latest critical updates, you should be fine.

Its not gonna change the look of your XP, apart from the newbie security centre stuff. Its all under the hood.

I dunno, I guess I'm just not that excited by service packs. Will get at a later date when the fuss has died down a bit and the bug reports are in.

It enabled DEP for Athlon 64 processors and includes a more robust wireless networking API. Not to mention the enhancements to Internet Explorer and the various tweaks here and there.

I couldn't care less about the fact that it has a security center now, nor do I care about its built in firewall.

I need the service pack because it is solving a couple of compatibility issues that we're experiencing in my office (at least it solved them as of RC2). I've been running RC2 for a couple of months now, and I don't mind the enhancements to IE (when I use it at all; long live FireFox!) and a few other small tweaks.

There's a torrent that's out, and the file size is indeed 266.01MB and the filename is exactly that pictured on the Windows Beta site: WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe.

I'm 8.6% done. I'm not sure if it'd be legal to post the Torrent because while SP2 is free etc, it may still be under some kind of NDA for now.

Yes, and so are you. Using a different browser does not mean you are not using IE. Not updating and securing IE because you use a different web browser is naive.

Woah!! Naive? Who said I wasn't updating my PC? I have the latest patches installed, including the newest IE one from last Friday, I have anti-virus and a software and hardware firewall!
Not rushing out to scramble for SP2 isn't going to have a major immediate effect on my box.
Don't take everything so seriously

For some reason, I still have a little feeling that the file on Windows Betas will be different from the web release.
The "About Windows" dialogue on SP2 RTM says:
Microsoft (R) Windows
Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 : Service Pack 2)

But the "About Windows on my SP1 (which came from the web download section on MS's site) says:
Microsoft (R) Windows
Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp1.020828-1920 : Service Pack 1)

Why the different formatting with the xpsp_sp2_rtm section of the version? Sure looks weird  Maybe they'll change that part on the web download?

Server 2003 says "RTM" if you look at the winver
