Windows XP SP1 Installation Error

Hi.

I'm trying to burn a Win XP cd with SP1 slipstreamed. When I try to run the sp1 file I downloaded from microsoft's website, I get the following error message:

Error Starting Program
The XPSP1A_EN_X86.EXE file is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL:strstr.

I'm trying to create the CD on Windows 98.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance

You need to do the slipstreaming process from within WinXP... AFAIK, there's no way to do it in Win98.

I guess u have to do it on Win xp.

I was able to extract the files using winzip, but when I try to run the update file I get a missing dll error.

Thanks for the help

here's a nice website that describes exactly how to create a slipstream cd....I think I had gotten the same error message you had once but I think that was cause I forgot to copy the I386 folder off the cd to my harddrive
