I pressed F6 to install the driver... and of course i loaded up on a floppy... recognized as silicon image driver for winxp blah blah... i installed it... continued with installation... Pressed enter to INSTALL... and BAM.. The screen says that SETUP DID NOT FIND ANY HHARD DISK DRIVES,,, blah blah.. im like.. WHY WHY WHY.. what am i doing wrong?!!?! This is actually my first RAID system drive.. i've setup RAID as my storage and what not.... but booting and installing off this thing gives me a headache... please HELP ME!!!!

nope.. just windows xp/server or something like that.. you think it could e the controller itself.. i doubt it though... geez.. this is frustrating...

This is the first time Ive experienced setup problems in my life... I've built many computers and installed all ranges of OS... and I've even done something sim to this in the past. Some stupid ABIT BX133 P3 mobo had promise IDE 133 chipset and I had to load in drivers during windows xp setup. But this isnt any different that that?! I've created my RAID 0 array prior to booting from the setup CD.. i dont know what the problem is? You guys think it's the driver?!?! somehow it isnt working??

I'd try downloading the latest drivers from the maker of the raid or motherboard chipset to a fresh floppy. Then run setup again using those drivers.. I'd want to make sure that it's only XP drivers and nothing to do with server if possible. Good luck.

some SATA controllers have one set of drivers to use if you are using it in a non-RAID configuration and one set if you are using it in a RAID config. Check that you are using the correct drivers?

I was going to suggest the same thing. I got this wrong once and even though the RAID controller remembered the RAID configuration, Windows XP just showed both drives as two separate drives with thier own drive letters. Annoyed the heck out of me until I figured out which of the cryptically named drivers I was supposed to use. I'd vote for the "get the latest drivers" suggestion.

Had that issue the first time I used onboard SATA-RAID

Fixed easily enough... just create two floppies, and use whichever one works.. :D (Or verify the correct drivers from the manufacturer's website)
