Windows XP Services Questions

Hello. I'm new to Windows XP Pro.. I've been using 98 for years and know it like the back of my hand but I'm still trying to learn XP.

My question is, what services do I want enabled and disabled? So far the only one I've touched is the messenger service so I don't get random popup ads. (Although I'm still getting some and not sure why, but thats another topic)

Any help would be appreciated

It's unlikely you'll use the indexing service. It's the only other default one that really put's any load at all on the box. I would leave all the other defaults on. Most don't burn any cpu cycles unless they are actually doing something.
