The qucik answer is, "I have no idea," but I saw this on the excellent Binks
www.windowsxp.nu website and I thought that you might be interested:
"Win XP Service Pack 1 is bullshit!
There is no SP1 yet!.
The package floating around on the Internet is leaked from MS or downloaded from
ftp://hotfix.microsoft.com/winnt/windows_xp/. The thing is these files on the FTP are psw protected, maybe someone managed to crack them. If you call MS support you can get the fix and password at no cost, maybe paswords are the same for all hotfix files.
Normal released hotfixes are made available publicly via Windows Update or MS Download center, if they are not there they are on the Hotfix ftp server but not publicly available, that is because MS hasn't tested it enough to be widely spread. So beware when you install these hotfix package, it could make your XP less stable. I advise you to wait till tomorrow when Windows Update is updated for XP and get the public fixes.
SP1 will take at least 4 months before it is released, and will contain 300-600 fixes, which does not mean it contains 300-600 updated files. There are now 50 hotfixes for XP posted on the FTP server.
To give you an idea there are 700 fixes for win2k SP3 till now.
