It's an External Case by Argosy, it's USB 2.0 480 mbps USB. they claim it supports up to 200 GB HD's. i've got it plugged into the USB and Win XP Pro sees it as ONLY 127 GB, anyone have any ideas?

I could really use some help on this one.

i would acquire partition magic and have it look at the drive
it will tell u how it is really partitioned
i suspect u have it partioned or that your md doesnt support that large of a drive and thus u need to partition it

like someone else said...get partition magic and try that. See if you can make two 100gig partitions...

Also, have you tried calling Dell?

the usb/ide bridge might not support >127GB drives. I kno that in my external enclosure if I use firewire it can go up to 250, but usb is only up to 127.

i'm not sure i understand your post. at the beginning you seem to be asking the question "does the ide/usb bridge support > 127 GB Drives", then the end of it you seem to be stating it as fact "But usb is only up to 127".

so which is it? do you know for a fact that USB won't support more than 127 GB?

I have the same problem with my usb2 drive. I didn't think much of it, and only use 120GB drives in it now. Bigger ones go in permanent.

He's talking about his external enclosure, others may be different.

actually, this is what i'm going to do. replace my 120 with my 200 and put the 120 in the external, but it is annoying it won't work. :(
