Windows XP & SATA drives

I have an IDE drive and a SATA drive hooked up to my ABIT NF7-S motherboard...

whenever I'm accessing something on the SATA drive, Windows keeps making the Device Connect / Device Disconnect sounds (like when you're inserting or removing a USB device).

So, my question would be, why is it doing this, and how would I go about stopping it?

Thanks

Have you looked at the approprite settign in the BIOS? SATA controller enabled? Boot device priority given?

Does your mobo have a SATA RAID controller? Make sure it isn't trying to set up an RAID array, it's nt possible on one drive.

Also make sure you have the latest greatest mobo drivers installed.

Yes, the SATA controller is enabled. The drive works perfectly fine, but for whatever reason windows keeps making the connect/disconnect noises whenever its in use (it's not my primary drive)
