Someone I know wants to do this:

have a swappable hard disk on his computer, but he wants the swappable hard disk to be the main hard disk. So can he install Windows XP on his computer, swap out the hard disk and put in a new hard disk and put the same Windows XP on that hard disk? (all components are the same except hard drive).

possible?

Sure.. you can always call MS and activate it if it doesnt validate online.

A better idea might be to install it, register it, then use ghost, or linux (the DD command) to completely copy HD1 to HD2.. then they will be identical.. both activated.. both ready to go.

Why is he doing it though?

QFT.

Is it already installed on the existing HD? If so, just ghost that one.
