Windows XP, Router, Switch, DSL Internet Questions

Im running Windows XP Professional on my main machine and I have a Windows ME laptop.

I have a DSL Router and I have it connected to my Linksys 5 port switch.

When the DSL Router is connected to the switch I have no problems accessing the net with the Laptop, but my Windows XP Box will not connect.

However when the Windows XP box is connected to the DSL Router (no Switch) it works fine.

Any ideals?

Wierd I rebooted the XP box and it works now.
but when I turn on the Laptop it keeps saying I have a IP conflict.

UPDATE: I forgot to enable DHCP on the laptop. It was auto enabled on the XP Box, but not on the laptop.

i have the same exact setup as you... but im running through a linksys 8 port hub... i did my networking the lazy and easy way... home networking wizard! =D... easiest is to run it on the lappy with the XP cd
