i have a dfi ut250gb and i finally got this rig to work a week ago, however sometimes when i leave the computer on for like 5 hours and i do a restart in windows xp, it would jus be blank, no post or anything but motherboard lights are still on, and fans everything still work i really dont know whats wrong. I would need to press reset button. Why wouldn't it just restart, im scared these symptoms would lead to someting more critical later on. It started doing this after i got this computer to work around 7 days running smoothly. I also went into bios and set all the boot up to be hard drive. THIS ONLY HAPPENS "SOMETIMES" when i restart the computer. any suggestions or help?

p.s do you guys suggest to upgrading to service pack 2?

my mobo is also flashed to the newest bios.

Might be reading this wrong but sounds to me like something is crashing on shutdown, my machine switches the video off before windows has completly shutdown which is what you could be experiencing. As you say it only does it sometimes and on restarts its gonna be hard to spot the problem. Hate to suggests it but have you tried a clean install?

Try swapping out your IDE cables.

If it only does it on restart, not a cold boot and your bios is set to "fast detect", it takes an inventory of things as it powers down. If the cable is bad it may have problems reading things on cycle down and can't report what's where when it cycles up, sometimes unable to find the OS on a hard drive ...or maybe more.
