My Windows XP (pro) Restart by itself and it doesn't give me any Blue screen ( Yes ,I did uncheck Automatically Restart box) . I also checked Windows Minidup folder and there is nothing there either ! I ran memtest and found no error. I also checked for virus and test my hard drive as well. my cpu temp is about 34 to 38. so I can not think of any thing else.I updated my MB Bios and VIA driver. oh i forgot to tell you that this happened every 4 or 5 days. Please advise me.
Thanks alot

Are you doing anything in particular like watching movies, playing games...downloading something?

It is possible that you have a driver conflict somewhere, although I will say that a good amount of random reboots are power related. For instance, I found that the powerstrip was bad on a customer's computer. Replacing it fixed the issue.

Additionally, it IS possible for your powersupply to be going bad (it is obviously powerful enough, so that wouldnt be the issue). I will say also that with my 9700 pro I had some issue with my drivers that caused similar issues. I removed the vid card and reinstalled it and the drivers and my problem went away. Good luck!

Thanks, It happens when i play game or surfing . I tried different video card last week but it did not help. I am thinking to buy a New PS and test it that way. BTW I just formated my HD like 2 weeks ago. I never had problem like this before :(

You could be getting a blue screen, the default setting is to reboot automagically. I believe its under system properties somewhere.

<------Been awhile since I've used WinXP, Linux rules.

It sounds very similar to the msblaster virus... Which wasn't always detected straightforwardly by a virus scanner. Download the specific one for msblaster from norton and run that.

64 F? that's extremely low, too low I'd say for a cpu. Are you sure that's not Celcius? Could you possible have the CPU and Motherboard sensors mixed up?

I checked it from BIOS . In BIOS it shows : MB Temp 75 F and CPU Temp 60.5 F !! Is this too low or high for AMD XP 2600 ???

Thanks

also, another simple way to test possible hardware problems is to either leave it in the bios, or boot into safe mode and just let it sit there...if it doesnt reboot, you might just have yourself a software problem..if your computer is rebooting itself in the bios, then you know its hardware or heat...

It usually reboot every 4 or 5 days. As i said on my last post , it seems that it's a ATI driver problem ** The Ati HotKey Poller service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). **

I uninstalled Ati driver and update it to newer driver (3.10), so I have to wait to see if reboot again or not. Also i don't think it's a heat problem b/c in Bios my CPU Temp is about 64 F .

I will let you know if any thing goes wrong again.

I had very similar problems on my 9700pro. About every three or four reboots and I would get a blue screen when I logged in. After a reboot it would go away, but updating my drivers to the 3.10 ones seems to have fixed that issue for me.

Also, I had to uncheck the "enable VPU recover" thing in the drivers. It gave me blue screens about every 10 minutes or so. I do not install the whole package on the drivers. I select the first one that only contains the driver files.
