Windows XP repair install question

it doesn't mess up your data or program files. However its a good idea to install the updates (like SP2, hotfixes) after repair installation or better run a slipstreamed installation.

True, and it doesn't take forever. It simply restores all your system files that it detects have changed from their default settings.

Here's the situation. I just did a new build a couple of weekends ago. While installing XP, the monitor I was using kept turning itself off. Without thinking, I hit the enter key and escape key the first couple of times it did it. After the install finished, I switched out monitors.

Since I started up the new computer, it boots up a bit slower than I expected, and it sits on windows update forever (and I mean a realy long time). Could this be caused by how the install went?

Only odd thing I could thing of in a Windows install is that it has the option to install a FAT32 partition. I'm not sure how that would affect anything speed wise. Hmm...😕
