I have a PC hooked up to my TV and stereo and I want to use my laptop as the "remote control". I want to be able to play music and videos on my TV but launching it from my laptop. Remote DEsktop Connection has an option to "Leave sound on remote computer", but is there anything for video?

Thanks

Firstly, no. The local display will be at the "This computer is in use by ____ and is locked" screen.

Secondly, that seems like a cumbersome and unneccesarily complicated way of doing things. Buy a wireless keyboard + mouse, or an ATI Remote Wonder if you want the sleek HTPC look.

remote desktop isn't made to do that...you'd be better off using remote assistance or switching over to VNC whcih does leave sound/video on the remote machine
