Windows XP Red Hat linux dual boot help

I have Windows XP pro and Red Hat linux 7.3 installed on my computer and have configured the dual boot as the FAQ here on anandtech says to do. When i boot the computer, i get the option for windows xp or linux. when i choose windows, it boots windows just fine. when i choose linux, it just goes to a screen with the cursor flashing in the upper left. the only way i can boot into linux right now is by using a boot disc. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it?

Which linux bootloader are you using, LILO or Grub?
Did you copy the linux boot sector over to the Windows C:\ drive?
