Cause the corp version is for people who own a bunch of licenses for it, you can't just buy one corporate cd, really not setup that way.

LOL mcCide...

Isn't a corporate license thousands and thousands of dollars depending on how many puters you want it for? I highly doubt they'd sell corp licenses for less than 10 computers, am i right?

IMO, MS was just encouraging even more piracy with this activation thing. The whole concept is so unbelievably stupid and annoying that even some people who would've normally paid for a copy are pirating a corporate version so they don't have to deal with the activation sh!t.

Is it just me or was it for EVERY piece of software (nonshareware, nonfreeware), for each comp you put it on, you have to buy another license?

As far as my understanding goes, you can use your XP license on only one computer. With the activation junk, they now have a way to keep people from using their license on more than one computer. With any of the other Windows (3.1,95,98,ME,2k), you can legally only install it on 1 desktop computer and 1 laptop computer. Now, we know how well that worked (haha) so that's why M$ is doing the activation.

Now, personally, I finally got around to installing XP RC1 about two weeks ago. I think I set a record for myself: shortest time I've ever had an OS installed. I just didn't like it, period. Yea, it has better hardware support, but any noble piece of hardware is going to have stable Win2k drivers as well. So, you know what I did, I pulled out my Ghost floppy and restored my bootdrive back to Win2k. They way things are going, I think more programs are going to become available for Linux in the next couple years. Before I shell out major $$ for another M$ OS, I'm going to try out the latest version of Linux.

Corp >= 5 licenses.

Easy, find 3 friends who want it and split the cost 5 ways (per computer). Any more people than that is strictly forbidden. Then distribute backups to those who purchased it.

MODS: If this is too shady, please edit it.

I really don't see how that is shady, I mean you are buying licenses, I don't know that you would have to be a legal corporation to purchase it as long as you are paying for it, but I highly doubt he's gonna go that route.

ppl, everybody here and their moma knows you can just donkey the corporate iso, so only people who actualy need it to be legal buy it. same way as photoshop. i know exactly zero individuals who bought either software, and at least 20 people who use it. so what? copyright laws are not as stricktly enforced here. onyl companies, schools and institisions are checked, so onyl they actualy pay. but thats ok, micros$oft has enough $$$ as it is ;)
