Okay I'm tring to format my drive that has Windows XP Pro on it, but now after reinstalling XP when I boot up It has 2 verision of XP to bootup from. I guessing that due to the fact that i didn't properly uninstall xp the first time. Is there a way to remove the non working, non existant version of XP that is dectected?

then onto part 2 of my problem.... After messing around with a bit tring to remove that first XP, I some how messing with the working copy, I just wanna do a fresh start. A complete format, but I can't seem to get into dos anymore. Is there some way to get a bootup disk that will get into dos so I can just do a simple format C: \s

Oh dear.

Well, the "2 versions" of XP were probably just two lines in your boot.ini file. A quick modification of this file will eliminate the second option.

HOW TO: Edit the Boot.ini File in Windows XP

As for the reinstall, you should boot from your Windows XP setup CD. You may need to change an option in your BIOS in order to boot from the CD. XP setup will load right away, and you can create, delete and format partitions from XP setup. You might want to look into slipstreaming SP2 (search this forum or google) prior to reinstalling. It will save you the hassle of installing a service pack after the Windows install, and it will ensure that your machine is patched before you connect it to the internet.
