Windows XP Problems - MP3 and mouse lock-ups!

I installed Windows XP Professional (version 2002 - build 2600.0000) from original CD-ROM to my computer (sys specs: see below), installed all files on windows update site (2 files, PIII driver and MS Java plu-in), installed updated drivers etc, but nothing seem to work out.

I get random mouse and MP3 playing (any MP3 software) lock-ups, they seem to LAG ramdomly for half-second and then go back to normal operation. It seems like Windows XP is doing something that suddenly draw near 100% CPU usage, but only for 1/2 second. Even a fresh boot and only with WinAmp open that happens.

I installed Norton System Works 2002, because I was hoping it's Windows Doctor could help, but no luck.
My question is: anyone is having the same problem? It's strange but when playing games like Quake 3, CS etc the mouse and sound NEVER locks-up. So maybe it's a video driver issue, but I don't buy it (i'm using the 21.83 with MWHC driver signature).

I thick maybe it's a Windows XP service running on the background. I desabled the folowing features: Automatic Updates, System Restore, Netword Drive auto update, etc. No luck yet.

Is anyone having this problem? My system is overclocked, but even when installing and running Windows XP Professional with original clock speed it happens at the same ramdom rate.

I'm having the same sorta of problems as well. More just lockups totally. I'm having to reboot about once a day due to lockups. I could run it for days straight on 98SE. The comp its on is in my rig section. Any help or info is appreciated.

Edit: BTW since your running a HPT370 controller like me, make sure you have the most updated HPT370 drivers. These beta drivers for the hpt370 seemed to fix many problems related to skipping in mp3's,mouse freezes ,etc. So make sure you have those installed.
