Windows xp problem....please help!

Hey Guys,

I've been having a problem with windows xp lately. My desktop picture has gone away, and now there is just a grey screen. All the icons are there, and everything seems to work fine. I was playing a game, then the game closed and I was left with the grey desktop. I cannot change it back. I choose a desktop picture and it stays grey. I have tried changing the graphics card, as well as re-installing the drivers for it. Is there anything else I can do? Thanks in advance!

Maybe try uninstalling all the drivers and then uninstall the vid card from device manager?

upon bootup it should find the vid card and try to install default drivers or ask for correct ones..

is the vid card overclocked?
is the PC is overclocked?
