Windows XP pro wont load

Ok i've had xp pro installed for a couple months now with no problems then all of a sudden today after a reboot it gets passed the xp loading screen and stops a black screen then reboots.

I havent installed any new hardware. I've also tried safe mode, last known good config, etc. nothing works

any ideas?

Hi,

If you really haven't done anything new that might have caused this, the most likely problem is that you've developed a hard disk bad sector, which has unfortunately corrupted some important OS file. If you have an IBM disk, I'd suggest to downloading DFT (drive fitness test) from IBM.com to scan your HD and if necessary reformat and reallocate any bad sectors. If you're non-IBM, other drive manufacturers have similar tools on their websites for disk diagnostics.
