I've had XP installed for a couple months now with no problems. Then all of a sudden today after it gets past the the XP loading screen it stops at a black screen and reboots?

I havent installed any new hardware, any ideas?

did you try safe mode? you might need to use the repair utility on the installation disk.

I'm having the same problem! I tried using the recovery console, but for everytime I try to do a command it will give me access denied. Apparently my environmental variables aren't set properly and I have to do things like:

set allowwildcards = true
set allowallpaths = true
set allowremovablemedia = true
set nocopyprompt = true

These are currently all set to false and the only way to be able to use these are by enabling the set command in Security Configuation and Analysis Snap-In in Microsoft Manangement. However, to do this you have to get into Windows, and I can't get into Windows! I'm completely lost! I have no idea how to go about this and what to do. Help!!!!

Can you boot into safe mode and do a system restore point from a day or two before your problems started? It's different from Last Known Good, and has worked for me in the past when LKG didn't.
