Windows XP pro w/ SP2 missing DLLs for kernel???

Hi,

I have an issue with a laptop that ran into a major problem recently. The laptop has Windows XP w/ SP2, and recently when it booted up it gave me this error:

"Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report as:

load needed DLLs for kernel"

I found a few websites, including MS support website that describe how to get around the problem like this website describes but I am having problems with the Windows XP cd as well.

When I install the Windows XP cd and set the laptop to boot from the CD it begins to do the install, but after about 20 seconds I get this error:

"An unexpected error (1498611712) occured at line 1773 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\arcdisp.c."

I pulled out the wireless card that was in the laptop, and still get the same error, or sometimes it just freezes at the blue screen and nothing happens.

Has anyone got any ideas or guesses as to what is happening??? I have never come across the boot cd as having errors...

thank you 🙂
