My XP freezes at the shutdown screen (during the screen saying that windows is saving my settings)!! It happens about every second shutdown and I have to hit the reset button. What should I do?? It's really inconvenient and annoying. Anyone experiencing the same thing?? Please help!, thx!!

maybe you should press ctrl alt delete before you shutdown and note the hings that are running and try closing them before you shut down.
also, try downloading a program such as tweak xp that will check for any registry errors...

It sounds like a program isn't quitting the way it should be. You might try making sure all your apps are closed and then check what processes are running and see if you can kill all those that aren't needed. If this solves your problem, then you need to take a look at what processes are running and see if you need them all. It's possible that some program has something running that you don't want to be running all the time.

Thank you guys for your help. I figured out that the problem was caused by removing certain registry keys using Lavasoft - Ad aware 6. After restoring the backuped keys, everything turns back to normal. Thank you again for your help.
