Windows XP Pro OEM Question?

My bro got a compaq custom built a long time ago.. XP 1600+, well he got a PRO OEM build 2600 cd with it.. SP0

Well he did a reformat a while ago.. and reinstalled the OS using that cd.. I used that cd as well.. and um.. i activated it.. and it activated it just fine.. (He did his reformat 6 months ago)

Did i just unactivate his and active my pc? or did it just let me activate both ?

Is this normal?
 
well, wrong forum.

you didn't "unactivate" his license, you pirated his license. if M$ for some reason does see that this key has been pirated, it will be blacklisted, and not allowed to be activated again.

And crap.. oh well.. hopefully we never do a reformat ever again 😛

EDIT: And theres an operating system forum.. well ill be damned :\
