windows xp pro language problem

For some reason some of the text in my English Windows XP pro has turned Spanish. Some dialog boxes (error pop-ups mostly) and some sub-menus (for instance, the print preview menu in wordpad and the save/exit boxes is some things) come up in Spanish instead of English. This only happen on certain text objects, but it happens on those all the time (not randomly). I have checked all of the 'language' settings that I know of (IE and Control Panel) and they are all set to English(US). Does anyone know how I can make EVERYTHING in Windows revert back to English (or where some hidden language settings might be)?

thanks, but that is one of the locations that I know about. since aparently nobody knows anything about this, it might be time for a reinstall (i hope that works).
