Hi All and Happy New Year.

Just did a clean install of Windows XP Pro on my machine, and all is basically OK. Went to ghost my machine (multicast) to my wife's PC, and no good. It see's the IP and drive, but when I go to the next step, I get the following "(25030) NTFS GetClusterCount Failed." It also mentions something about MBR.

Went to Symantec's site and searched and only found this here. It references NT 4.0 (but I did run scandisk and defrag).

So, any ideas? My home network is setup OK, and I did this just a week ago with W2K...worked great...nothing on my wife's machine has been changed (she's running W2K). I like to ghost about once a month...great insurance policy:)

My rig:

Epox 8KTA3+(RAID 0 enabled with (2) 40 GB IBM drives)
AMD 1.4Ghz (266) @1.6
Gainward GF3/Ti200/450 GS
512MB Corsair CAS 2 RAM
Creative SB Audigy X-Gamer
Plextor PlexWriter 16/10/40A
Compaq 3120 10/100 Nic-(internal LAN)
3Com 3C905-TX-(cable modem)

Thanks in advance.

I didn't have luck with Ghost V6.5.1 and (XP) NTFS format either.

It said I had "bad volume information" or something like that.

same here. maybe symantec wasn't using an updated ntfs spec when it programmed ghost. btw, is 6.51 version 2001 or 2002? cuz 2002 is supposed to work with xp/ntfs but it doesn't for me. 2001 also quits but with a different error.

XP has a new version of NTFS (5.1 versus 5.0 in Win2K). Ghost 7.0/2002 is required for the *new* NTFS.

Haha, this is just what I need. No wonder my Ghost 6.5 is not working right with XP, let me try it tonight with Ghost 2002.... :)

I used the ghost 2002 version 7.0. Everything copied OK, but my system would not boot to the desktop.

Me too. Does anyone know how to make it work? It gets past login and stops before reaching the desktop (it doesn't freeze, just stops) I am trying to move XP to a nice new drive, but I have everything the way I like it and the system is stable and fast.
