Heya there,
I had a bad experience with power toys. I have an AMD 1.4 ghz machine with 256 mb ram and a Kyro 2 card. Now I just upgraded to xp and had the old tweakui installed. The uninstaller failed on me but I still installed the new XP power toys. I noticed an immediate effect on system speed. My SETI@Home screensaver started taking 20 hrs for a workload instead of the usual 12. So, I uninstalled half of the xp power toys and found that speed had reached the 12 hr usual limit. Then I removed the rest of them. Guess what....SETi took JUST 7 hrs to do each work load. Now, I dont say that my test was very accurate but then again...I made sure there was nothing else running in the background which could have slowed down my system. Do you guys think Windows is in tie up with intel to slow down our systems and make us buy faster computers which we dont really need???
