Got a very frustrating problem I'm trying to solve. The default power settings for our users' tablet PCs is causing them to lock up. Once we change the power settings to "Always on" and then set everything to never turn off the lock ups go away. The problem is whenever a new user logs in their power settings revert back to the "Power optimized" profile. We then have to promote them to admin, change the power settings, then demote them again. And since there is no telling which user will use which tablet we have to do this for every user and every tablet. And just letting them have admin rights so they can change it themselves is not an option.
How can I set these tablets so when a new user logs in they automatically get the "Always on" power settings??
I've looked at using powercfg.exe to do it but I don't see anywhere in there to set the default power scheme for all users. I've also looked at modifying the ntuser.dat file under c:\documents & settings\Default user. But I'm having a very hard time isolating the hex values I need to change.
