My PC has been crashing into blue screens saying PFN LIST CORRUPT for the past few weeks, maybe once every couple days. It's been happening from time to time, ever since I built this PC 6 months ago, but it's become much more frequent. Apparently it has something do do with a file copy error, but I couldn't get too much information on google. 2 of my drives are 1 month old and another is 6 months old. As a side note it never crashes in games or as a result of stressful activity, just randomly, like overnight when it's not being used.

System
Athlon64 3500+@2.5Ghz
Abit AV8
1GB ADATA DDR500@500
6800GT@425/1.15
2x 300GB Maxtor SATA, and a 250GB Maxtor PATA
OCZ 520W

Do you think its one of my drives or maybe the ram or motherboard or something else? any ideas?

Thats most likely due to a buggy driver you have installed passing bad memory descriptors around. Do you have any file system filter drivers (from say a backup or antivirus product installed?). I'd start looking there for the culprit.

If thats not it, bad RAM would be my next guess. MS has a KB article here. While targetting 2K, the troubleshooting steps are valid for you to follow (skip #3)

I have also been getting this error, as well as a couple other BSOD recently on my new build. Other message as PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. I had one heck of a time installing Windows XP on this machine after the format, etc, some files I had to skip because that was my only choice.

About 30 mins ago I came to the conclusion I have a bad stick of memory (PQI Power 512 PC2700 x 2). RMA'ing it back to Newegg on Monday, and going with Crucial or another brand name memory to hopefully have better luck.

Just for a comparision, system stats.

ASRock P4V88
Intel Prescott P4 3.0ghz
PQI Power 512mb x 2 PC2700
Maxtor 60gb
ATI Radeon 9200SE
