Windows XP password recovery

A friend of mine and myself need to recover a password that we forgot to a windows XP account we used to share. I've search all over google and came out with nothing.

Basically we want to recover our password for the account. I thought you could use the windows XP disk to help you recover but I can't find anything about how to do it.

Does anybody know how to recover an account password? It would be very helpful

You might try using the Offline Password Editor on the Ultimate Boot CD

Restart to Safe Mode or hit ctrl+alt_delete twice at the logon screen, and log in as Administrator and try a blank password. You can then to go control panel > user accounts and reset the main password.

Otherwise see if you can obtain a copy of ERD Commander so that you can use the locksmith feature.
