Windows XP or Windows 2000 On a Pentium 3 933/ 512 smram ?
Hey Guys i got a Pentium 3 933 with 512 sdram and i was wondering if i should upgrade to xp cause win 2000 doesn't use more than 256 ram, i got 512 but that's a waste of time b/c windows 2000 is still slow, windows xp might be abit slower because of all the candy dandy stuff they put for decorations....Tell me what you think......Thanks

i didnt know 2000 only used 256 , you sure about that?
if true i would suggest xp but otherwise i dont know. i think xp has a bit more than eye candy though.

windows 2000 if you want a really good, stable OS.

-->There is a newfound respect for Win2000 (the only M$ OS I think was done the right way) from my side since I started using WIn 2k machine at my workplace.

WinXP is incredibly similar to Windows 2000 under the hood. In fact it's subtitle is NT 5.1 where windows 2000 was NT 5...

I'd go for WinXP on that machine as it' starts faster and has a number of extras that I use all the time that are missing in win2k.

I ran WinXP RC1,RC2, and final 2600 build on my PIII933 /256ram. Ran just fine, and with the eye candy off, ran no different than win98.

you need at least 3ghz and 1gig of ram to run windows xp, what are you thinking man?!
