Windows XP? or 98SE? Advice on which to use on new build

I am building a new computer and ordered Windows XP with my hardware..... but I also have a Windows 98 SE i can use.

i am very used to windows 98 SE-- i was wondering-- should i install windows XP? and be up to date?? or should i stay with the tried an true windows 98SE? any advice? thanks

XP is much more stable than 98, can and does use memory more efficiently, actually has some type of security, and support for 98 is going away at the end of the year. If it was up to me, the choice would be between XP and 2000 Pro. I like 2000 better but thats just me.

If you still have older software that you want to use, then I would go with Win98SE because XP won't support some of the older software. Like igiveup said though, XP is more stable, and I would likewise choose between 2000 and XP.

Ditto what Thor86 said.

I'd be dual booting now, but I installed a new video card (ATI AIW 8500DV) that claims it is
not supported in 98SE, and I've been having too much fun in XP to bother booting back to
see if I can get it working.
