What are the advantages of the NTFS over FAT32? I have Xp installed on a system with NTFS and now I dont know how to format that drive. I cannot even see that hard drive listed from my second hard drive with win 98 (FAT32) for obviouse reasons. When I re-install XP i want to change over to FAT32...so atleast i can see both drives from the win 98 boot drive...i like to use Both OS's for different programs i use...I can do this only after i can manage to reformat the NTFS drive.

thanks

Ragz,

Forgive me for being exasperated, but I wrote a FAQ to answer this very question that has been asked too many times to count.

Just let me point that out here to you before some less forgiving members come and blast you, or the mods blow a gasket.

NTFS 0wns FAT32

but if you have to use a win98 dual boot setup, fat32 would be your only option.
you will have to use DOS FDISK (maybe the WINXP cdrom?)
and delete the ntfs partition, and create a new FAT32 one, then format, etc.
