i just found this today. supposedly this fix will give a boost to your gaming. use at your own risk Text

ps. i havent read all 51+ pages yes, so i'v no idea if you can use this with desktops as well.


edit: i've been skimming through that thread about it, and apparently this wont work for people using the xp sp3. reason given was SP3 has updated the XP kernel to fully utilize multi-core CPUs.

What exactly does this do? What the guy says makes no sense. I guess his english is bad.

FYI: The /usepmtimer in the BOOT.ini is a "switch" that forces the system to use a steady clock in place of the CPU frequency... for certain timing functions. Thats as basic as you can explain it. So by doing this, the switch gives the system a steady clock to use in place of the CPU frequency.

Does he mean that it fixes the clock so it doesn't throttle? What certain timing functions??
