Windows XP missing boot.ini problem?

I have my computer setup for Raid 0 using 2 40 gig IBM Deskstars. The problem is that it didn't shut down properly one time and I turned it off. Now whenever I try and start the computer it says missing boot.ini and loads the blue screen of death. Is there anyway I can fix this problem without having to reformat my computer? I have digital photos that I didn't back up and some important things, so if it's at all possible I would like to try and avoid having to do that at all costs. Thanks a bunch.

Not real good with XP yet but you could try to change the boot order to CD first and boot to the XP CD. Then you will get to an area that allows you to chose to "repair" the OS or reload. You could try the repair. I believe you first have to select for it to load XP (sounds scary) but after it copies the files it will give you the repair option. Hopefully someone more familiar can clear that up better.
Other than that, one good way would be to beg/borrow/steal (not really steal) another HD. Just a small cheap one. Just load XP on it and hook up the old drive as a Slave to it. Then you will be able to access the info on the old drive and copy it to "removable media" for safer storage.

maybe you can make one...this is what mine looks like..just mod it to what yours would be

[boot loader]
timeout=1
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Yeah I think I'll borrow another HD and just save all my important info then reformat. Also I probably won't use them in Raid 0 anymore as I didn't see much advantage to it, and just put the other 40 giger in another machine. Thanks.
