I've got Windows XP and want to install the microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick. I went to microsofts website to get the drivers and they are not there. Their website for the drivers has a search feature to seach the data base for the drivers. I tried to find the drivers for Windows XP, 2000, 98, 95. and there were none there for any operating system. So what gives? Microsoft no longer supports the 3 year old joystick? Did they pull the drivers off their website?

I switched back from XP to W2K, but doesn't XP have built-in support for many of the MS Sidewinder gamepads and joysticks?

Windows XP doesn't even recognize that a joy stick is plugged into the game port on the TB SC sound card. I tried to manually select the hardware that I want the drivers for which would be the microsoft side winder pro, but the list for microsoft hardware was supprisingly very short and didn't include any joysticks at all.

I should probably get that force feed back side winder anyway. sounds like it would be really cool.

Windows XP fully supports my original Sidewinder 3D Pro and Sidewinder gamepads. I just plugged them in and added them via the Game Controllers thing in the control pannel. Pick Microsoft Sidewinder, and it autodetects which one you have.

OMG!! It works!! I haven't tried it out yet, but it detected it. I was trying to do it through the device manager before. Thanks for the help.

sorry, what I meant was the joystick will work but you can't program the buttons using the sidewinder software as MS aren't writing a program for use in xp!

Yeah, it's the secret handshake. It took me forever to figure out to use the Game Controllers control panel. It didn't help that I still had my Control Panels on the Category View which doesn't show you that there is a Game Controllers control panel. Gah.
