Windows XP media edition questions

Building a new PC and was going to buy the OEM XP Pro software. I now see that XP Media Center is available in OEM. I was wondering if the Media Center version keeps the same functionality of regular XP for things like Office and gaming? Based on all the screen shots I have seen, it appears as though you can only use the PC for media. Even the Microsoft site is unclear as to the exact capabilities, so what am I missing here?
