Windows XP MCE vs. Windows XP Home

essential

Senior member
Well, i'm getting my uncle a computer for christmas, nothing extreme, he just goes on the net (dialup), and uses it for word processing. I'm configuring him a mid-line Dell, and it comes with Windows XP Media Center Edition, but I can choose Windows XP Home for no cost upgrade. Are there any benefits to MCE, or should I just get him the Home edition?

Thanks.

Go with MCE, it has a few extra goodies that he may or may not use, but if the upgrade is of no cost, it's a no brainer to grab the extra functionality.

I'd go with Home. He probably won't use the extra functionality and extra functionality = extra chance for bugs and incompatibilities.
