Windows XP login screen looping and can't get into Windows

Hi there,

a friend has a problem with her Windows XP Home edition computer. It powers on, goes into the log on screen and then starts windows, and goes back to the log on screen. I've tried to log in safe mode using her account, and the Admin account, but it just loops back to the log on screen. I've also tried reverting Windows to the last known good boot...

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thank you for your time and help 😀

I should clarify, that when it goes back to the "Welcome" screen if we try clicking on her account, it then says windows logging on, and then instantly says windows logging off, and just seems to sit at the Welcome/log on screen.

The last thing she did was run a Panda Titanium Antivirus scan and now she can not log on any way... is there any way to fix this issue using the Windows Recovery Console, or could her Windows Account be corrupted, or the whole OS could have gone corrupt? I've already tried the 'fixboot' command in the Windows Recovery Console, and it did nothing.

Ideas and help are much appreciated 😀
