Asked this question awhile back but never got a firm answer, gonna give it one last shot.

I?ve bought two full versions of Windows XP Profession over the last two years. Unfortunately I need another copy again for my laptop. Question I have is, I now get a student rate on the upgrade version of Windows XP Pro, but unfortunately they don?t sell the full version which I need the most. Is it possible to use the full version CD I already have and use the new key from the upgrade version to establish a legit version of Windows XP Pro?

Thanks in advance!

You can't use an upgrade key with a full version CD and vice-versa.

Why can't you use the upgrade version? There is no difference between it and the full version except that the install will ask you to prove ownership of a previous version of Windows when you install. (Just insert your old Win 9x/Me/NT CD for a second when prompted.)
