Here's the deal... I did a clean install of XP when I first got it, it gave me a system/system32/config corrupt error after rebooting a few times. Sometimes after I re-install it will run for weeks, sometimes one re-boot. WTF is going on? It's like a game of, "Will my computer boot today?"... While booting, every time, the little blue bar thingy pauses for a couple seconds 3 times. I have no idea what its doing.

I'm using all microsoft supplied drivers off the CD, including the Highpoint drivers for C drive I install it on. No raid set up, just a pair of WD 30's on the controller, and a CDrom on the normal IDE. Would installing the "new" highpoint drivers make any diff?

_PUH-LEEZE_.... there has to be some of you out there who have heard of this problem... do I need to update my bios or roll it back? I think I'm running 3R or something, fairly recent as I've updated it to try and fix the problem.

Holy crud! This could be a trend! A friend of mine who frequents [ H ] ard OCP just installed XP on his KT7A and Duron 800@1000/133 setup today. Within 24 hrs, he's had 2 BSODs.

How did you do the "clean install"?

When I formatted using the XP cd, I got errors BOTH times I tried to install it. Both times I tried, it would not let me copy several files from the cd, for no apparent reason. It was really weird.

So, the next time i tried formatting with a Windows98 boot disk. Then i did an install using the Win XP cd. I had NO errors. I've since formatted a few timessince, for various reasons (nothing to do with my KT7A-Raid though),,,,,,,,I have not had a problem since.

So, I would suggest reformatting the way I did it, with the Win98 disk.

I think formatting using the XP cd must leave some unwanted files that somehow screw things up.....with this motherboard anyhow.
