i have reformatted many times and the same problem occurs. when i login into windows i get multiple beeps and windows seems to be frozen for a bit. when i double click on icons sometimes there will be a long delay before the program opens. sometimes they will not open at all. this is also weird. when i try to scroll down in a menu or internet explorer the menu or IE will scroll by itself or stutter back and forth. i hope this all makes sense. when i boot into safe mode this still happens. the occurence is random. as a result i switched back to windows 2000 and don't have the problem. i have an asus p4t-e mobo, 40 gig IBM HD, 20 gig maxtor HD, 512 MB of RDRAM, p4 1.6a GHz, soundblaster audigy, and linksys nic. please help. thanks.
