Windows Xp is not all that great....

Based on numerous recommendations from everyone here i thought it might be fun to switch one of my PC's to xp. I did the whole clean format thing and got all the right drivers. So far i haven't had a stability problem, except some older games won't run and counterstrike is a little buggy sometimes. I can definitely say performance has gone down a slight bit compared to 98se. The things I don't like about XP is that it hides many advanced options in hard to find places. Things i could do in 3 mouse clicks on 98se take 5 clicks. Everything is a little too integrated for me. Also, network file browsing is pathetically slow compared to 98se. I like the advanced security though, but i guess the extra security comes at the cost of slowness. Another thing i didn't like was how hard it was to get rid of simple things that i didn't want on my os. Took me a while to figure out how to get rid of that stupid messenger crap and the movie maker is still on my computer. I can see how this OS would be good for newbies, but for the advanced user like myself I prefer win2k and 98se hands down. One thing i do love is the GUI, it makes 98se look so dull. Well... done with my rant.

2K is great and with tweaks, the two are about neck and neck as far as speed on my system............as for 98......I'd take a lot of slowness to balance out the lack of needing to reboot at least daily and the memory management of 98, well, I won't even go there.......😉 As for the network, depending upon the circumstance, it can be setup to be just as fast as any prior MS O/S. Games???? My kids have 78 of them and they all work on their system with XP Pro, but, they are "younger" kids.......12 and 9 so the games they have are fairly "calm", but still........they all work! I actually find XP easier once tweaked to move around in and work in than any 9X and like I said, at least equal to 2K. I've had a few BSOD's in 2K.......many through the years in 98..........but none on 3 systems to date with XP Pro and the kids pound theirs daily!
