Windows XP installation, SATA Drivers

I want to install Windows XP on a new SATA Hard drive.

I have already connected this drive and is recognised by the motherboard.
I am booting from the CD and it copies all the files and stops.

I need to try F6 and load the SATA drivers.

Where Can I download these files and load before the installation.?

I use ASUS motherboard,P4 processor,250 GB Hard drive.

Thanks

Assuming that you bought a Retail package of that Asus MB, then you already have the drivers on the CD that came in the package. Creating a floppy copy of the thing should be listed as an option from the Auto-Start Menu on the CD.

I don't know about that board, but all the boards I've dealt with, if you disable RAID, Windows setup will detect the SATA drives as IDE drives.

I have 2 ASUS moobs and I've always found drivers needed for mobo & drive from their website.

I myself am going to install XP pro on a WD raptor tomorrow (for the first time).
Should be fun. I should charge myself with patience for tomorrow 🙂

I don't think you need any drivers for your SATA functions.

You may just need to enable this function in the bios.
IDE port settings, select P-ATA + S-ATA

I already have my windows xp running on another dard drive and it is working fine.
I just need to install the OS on to this new drive.
I can see this drive in Windows and move, copy and play around with this drive.

When I disconnect all my other drives from bios and load windows only to this drive from CD,it copies files, and stops at "starting windows" screen. It doesn't go further..

Any expert opinions please....
