I don't think this is an OS or software problem... so all that's left is hardware.

Last night I decided to reinstall WinXP to get rid of DX9 since it slows down certain games. This is about the 10th time I'm reinstalling Windows XP, so I know what I'm doing. The problem is this... when after files are copied, the computer tries to boot but it seems to just freeze right before it should be "verifying DMI pool data" or whatever it does. The cursor just sits there and blinks. If I leave the CD in the drive, it asks to boot from CD, then when the ..... is completed, it does the same thing. Any ideas???

strip you pc to the bone, just leave the essentials to make the pc work install the os from scratch, set the cdrom to bootup or disable the hd in the bios, reinstall the os then add the extra one at a time. Remember take your time and "static" can cause you pc harm so ground youeself.
