I am now on the upteenth time of watching the installation restart itself.

Why is it doing this? At first I had problems with the network card, so i removed it, and it installed, but I need to install it again.

Any help

I'm not sure if this is the problem you are encountering, but the installation process repeatedly prompts you to "Press any key to boot CD".

Once the XP installation starts, ignore that prompt - it will RESTART the installation process.

Hope this helps!

My problem is that it keeps restarting over and over, it gets halfway through the installation process and reboots. Then restarts the whole process over again. Never finishing.

I had this problem back when I had an add-on card for my DVD-ROM (Creative Labs, I think). Windows would just not install with this card in. After quite a bit of frustration, I finally decided to take everything out of my computer except the bare minimum. Windows installed just fine. I then added back all my components one by one, re-trying the windows install after each component. I narrowed it down to that card. Anytime I re-installed windows, I had to remove that card, install windows, then re-insert the card.

Hope this helps

I have removed everything except the modem. Any computer I have ever installed XP on had problems with the NIC so I always take it out. Windows installed perfectly after I took out the NIC this time, but I needed to install it again on top of the first installation (upgrade). I have to use a personal cd for 1st install because the enterprise CD is just an upgrade.

I would remove every unneeded hardware piece and check out your XP cd. If it is scratched you may need to repair it. A few weeks ago I tried to reinstall XP pro and it kept restarting the installation at the same place everytime. I repaired my CD with a SkipDr MD and reinstalled from the beginning and everything went smoothly.

i installed it over a network, no CD. The CD drive does not recognized the burned CDs with XP on it, not to boot with at least. Why?

There is a entry in registry that you need to put in the drive letter of your cd drive. Cant remember it right now where it is, will try to find the entry.

ok, here in registry add D: or what drive the cd is.
h key local machine\software\microsoft\windows\current version\setup
On the line that says source path add the drive letter of your cdrom.

ok,

I am doing about 40 computers. All freshly formatted. I have a backup XP CD the original was stolen, anyway, the CD drives do not recognize it as bootable. Therefore I am screwed. How do I fix this problem?
